Reception - Peach and Plum 2022 - 2023
Welcome to Reception 2022/2023 class page
Hello Peaches and Plums!
Peach Class - Your Teacher is Miss Caldwell
Plum Class - Your Teacher is Mr Davies
Mrs Rodger and Miss Gormley are our wonderful Teaching Assistants.
World Book day
Thursday 2nd March is World Book day. The children are invited to dress up in their favourite book character and bring along their book to share in class.
In the Spring Term Reception will begin their PE lessons every Tuesday morning. Children will need to come into school dressed for PE with black bottoms and white tshirt/ school jumper or cardigan. Please wear black trainers as sometimes we may be outside, weather permitting.
Reading - We will read with children throughout the week, so please make sure your child has their bookbag in school every day, along with their school reading book and reading record (diary). Please re-read your child's book with them a minimum of 3 times during the week, as this helps them to build confidence and fluency with their reading.
We provide the children with a reading book matched to their phonic ability - to be read by the child, to an adult, as well as a separate book from our school library to be shared at home to help the children develop a love of reading for pleasure.
Both the phonics book, and the library book will be changed once a week - on a Friday. Please ensure both books are returned by Tuesday of each week.
This half term we will welcome some new additions to our Reception classes- Chicks! We are very excited to watch them hatch and grow alongside the children. Watch this space and keep a watch on our school facebook page for more information.
The chicks will link to our new class text in English. We will be diving further into numbers and expanding our understanding of number bonds, pattern, shape and measurements.
If you have any questions or worries at any time, about anything related to school, please do just ask any of the Reception Team - we are all more than happy to help.
Stay safe and take care,
The Reception Team
