The Easter Story, by Mr Ellis

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about Easter and what happened to Jesus. This afternoon we re-enacted Palm Sunday through to Easter Sunday and finished our day by enjoying hot cross buns and juice.

Cross Country Competition, by Mr Ellis

This afternoon 18 of our children from Year 5 and 6 took part in a Cross Country Competition at The Winsford Academy. The children needed to run two times around the playing fields, which is about 2km. They ran as fast as they could over this long distance and as a result they finished second and qualified for the next round!! Fantastic news everyone. Really well done!

Our visit to Stockley Farm , by Mr Ellis

Well today's trip to Stockley was enjoyed by all! The weather was quite kind, and the animals very friendly. We learnt all about how to care for all the different animals, and even bottle fed some baby goats. There was a little time to play on the indoor play area, and lunch in the tearoom was very exciting! Many thanks to all staff at Stockley for the wonderful activities and to all of our parent helpers - we couldn't have managed the trip without you

Some parents were asking this morning about what their children should wear for our trip tomorrow. Please send your child in their school uniform (girls can wear dark coloured trousers or leggings instead of a skirt/dress if you prefer), a warm coat, and sensible footwear. Trainers or wellies will be fine if preferred to school shoes.

We have been busy this week investigating length/height and finding objects around the classroom which are longer/shorter than 1 metre and longer/shorter than 10cm. We have also been investigating which 3-d shapes are best for building a tower.

We have had great fun today, all dressed as characters from Roald Dahl books. We have practised our computing skills, taking photos of each other using the i-pads, and have written about our favourite stories.

Well, what a fantastic day we have had in Reception today! We have completed lots and lots of Roald Dahl themed challenges and have done some amazing dream-jar writing. We have listened to and talked about lots of stories, including lots that have made us laugh, such as No-Bot by Sue Hendra. As you will see from the photographs, the children all looked brilliant in their costumes!

Your child will be coming home with a note tonight, which says the following:

Dear Parents/Carers
As you know, tomorrow is our mock wedding at the church. Children are allowed to come to school dressed in their party clothes, but please do bear in mind that we are walking to church, so the children will need warm clothes, a coat, and sensible shoes. Please could they also bring their school uniform in a named bag, as we will need to get changed for the afternoon.

Due to a change in hall timetable, Peach PE day has changed to a Tuesday. Please can you make sure your child has a PE kit (black shorts, white t-shirt and pumps) which can be left in school for the half term.

Our PE day has now changed to a Wednesday. We will still be accessing the hall for indoor PE this half term.

We've had an exciting day learning about life during the Stone Age and Bronze Age. Colin and Graham really brought the learning to life and we had lots of hands on experience of making tools, weapons and pottery.

The children who did not go on the residential trip have been having lots of fun today. We created space paintings, drank hot chocolate and started our paper mache solar system. We even found time to have a pancake!

A week of celebrations , by Mr Ellis

What a week we have had. We have celebrated pancake day, Valentines day and Chinese New Year. The children have tasted different pancake toppings and written a sentence about their favourite, there were lots of sour faces when we tasted lemon. Today we have taken part in dragon dancing with peach class and then we have all sat together and enjoyed egg fried rice and prawn crackers. We hope you all have a lovely half term.

We have had lots of fun today creating jungle leaves. We have used ink, tissue paper, and pastels to create our jungle tree. The children have written some fantastic sentences this afternoon about animals they may find in the jungle, we hope you have fun reading them

We are amazed at the talent in Year 1 - well done to all the children for all the 'Boris' entries, and to all the parents for your continued support. The robots are fantastic and we look forward to seeing the winners next week.
