year 6 at the Fire Station, by Mrs Swift

Date: 8th Oct 2018 @ 3:58pm

The children had their last visit to the Fire Station today.  They learnt how to role a hose out and role it back up again.  They then had a race in teams to see who could role out the hose, connect to the water supply and spray the water first.  All this in full fire kit!  They also did some more classroom based work on keeping themselves safe aroud fire and electricity.  Next week a new group of 10 children will attend.

Egg-citing News!, by Mrs King

Date: 7th Sep 2018 @ 7:56am

Yesterday, a silver egg appeared in Cherry class, covered in what looked like scales! The children kept a watchful eye all day, but could see no signs of the egg hatching. This morning, all that is left in the nest we made are some golden scales, that appear to be trailing out of the door! I wonder what is going on....

Butterflies in Elm class, by Miss Smith-Shelton

Date: 29th Jun 2018 @ 5:03pm

In Elm class, we have been learning about the life cycle of caterpillars. As part of this, we have been observing the tranformation of caterpillars to buttterflies. We started the term with 6 tiny caterpillars, but saw how they soon grew much, much bigger! After a few days, they formed chyrsallids, where they began their transformation to butterflies! On Thursday 28th, we noticed something moving in the net where we kept them and found that 2 butterflies had emerged. We came in this morning and the other 4 had emerged too!

Here are some pictures Miss Smith-Shelton and some Elm pupils took of our beautiful butterflies.

Art Day, by Mrs Swift

Date: 29th Jun 2018 @ 3:17pm

Pear Class really enjoyed Art Day which was inspired by the work of Hundertwasser.  We were asked to create a piece that represented something from our school.  Year one chose the guinea pigs.  We also decorated butterflies in the same style as Hundertwasser's paintings.
